NFCT Youth on Stage Orchestra Pit Musician’s Scholarship
Purpose of the Scholarship:
The NFCT Youth on Stage (YOS) Musician’s Scholarship aims to support young musicians who exhibit dedication, skill, and passion for live theatrical performance. This scholarship will provide financial assistance to help further the recipient’s instrumental proficiency, education, and overall artistic development.
Scholarship Funding Details:
This scholarship is funded by a generous donation made to the Youth on Stage program. At the discretion and consensus of the current season YOS production team, scholarships of $500 each will be awarded to eligible applicants.
Eligibility Requirements:
To be considered for the NFCT YOS Musician’s scholarship, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Must be actively enrolled in primary school, secondary school, or college.
- Must demonstrate instrumental proficiency to the YOS musical director and be officially accepted as a pit musician for the production.
- Must commit to attending all show-related rehearsals and performances as scheduled by the production team.
Selection Criteria:
The NFCT YOS production team will evaluate applications based on:
- Must be able to read sheet music.
- Applicant must submit an approximately a one-minute video playing their instrument.
Submit videos and any questions to brightstar@nfct.com with “[your name] orchestra audition” in the subject line by June 5, 2026.
- This year the orchestra instrumentation consists of: (one musician will be selected for each part.)
1x drum kit 1x Fiddle (Violin)
1x bass part 1x Viola
1x Guitar 1x Cello
1x Plectrum 5 string Banjo or substitute on 6 string banjo
1x Mandolin or substitute on guitar. (Possible Nashville tuning)
1x Keyboard with double on Accordion and autoharp or substitute multi timbre keyboard
Scholarship Disbursement:
Funds will be awarded by the NFCT board directly to recipients to be used to help with the expense of music education, instrument maintenance or purchase, and other related expenses. Awards will be disbursed upon the closing of the Youth on Stage summer production. Scholarship recipients will be recognized publicly as part of the NFCT YOS production.
