Roles

RoleM/FAgeDescription
PrudenceF30-40A polite, anxious, and emotionally repressed woman searching for a "normal" relationship. Prudence is earnest and well-meaning but deeply uncomfortable with emotional intimacy. She tries to follow rules for how life should work, even as everything around her becomes increasingly absurd.
Strong comedic timing required. Actor must ground the role in sincerity while building to moments of emotional unraveling.
BruceM30-40A highly sensitive and emotionally volatile man who struggles with identity, relationships, and self-understanding. Bruce swings rapidly between vulnerability and defensiveness, often oversharing and spiraling in conversation. He desperately wants connection but lacks the tools to maintain it.
Requires bold emotional choices and the ability to shift quickly between extremes.
Stuart M30-50(Prudence's Therapist) A confident, articulate therapist who is deeply unethical. Stuart abuses his position of authority by blurring professional boundaries and pursuing an inappropriate relationship with Prudence. He presents himself as insightful and helpful, but his actions are self-serving and manipulative. He fully believes his behavior is justified.
Must be played with total confidence and sincerity. The comedy comes from his calm justification of inappropriate behavior.
BobM30-50A straightforward, well-meaning man who goes on a blind date with Prudence. Bob is relatively grounded compared to the others, though somewhat awkward and easily thrown off by the increasingly bizarre situations he finds himself in.
Strong deadpan delivery and reaction skills are essential.
Dr. Charlotte Wallace F30-50(Bruce's Therapist) Bruce's therapist, who is wildly unprofessional, impulsive, and lacking in boundaries. She gives questionable advice and often inserts herself into situations inappropriately. Despite her behavior, she remains completely confident in her abilities.
Big comedic role. Actor should be fearless and fully committed to the character’s unpredictability.
WaiterM/F20-50A restaurant employee who witnesses the chaos of the other characters' interactions. Serves as a grounded outside observer, reacting with confusion, irritation, or subtle judgment as situations escalate.
Excellent timing and strong nonverbal reactions are key. Small role, big impact.
