| Instructions | Please prepare 32 bars of a contemporary musical theatre song. Come From Away features a folk-rock score influenced by Celtic and Newfoundland music, and your audition selection should reflect this style. You may sing a song from the show. We are seeking a diverse cast of men and women, with strong singing and acting abilities. All ethnicities and backgrounds are encouraged to audition. A wide range of roles are available |

Things to Know - Welcome to the Rock; Screech In | Bonnie & Others | F | 30-40 | No-nonsense head of the Gander-area SPCA and mother of three. She becomes determined to rescue and care for the animals stranded aboard the planes. Also plays Martha and others. Strong actress with warmth, determination and comedy. Mezzo/belt to approximately B4. Must handle quick character changes and Newfoundland dialect. Things to Know - Blankets and Bedding; material from Prayer / ensemble sections | Beulah & Others | F | 40-60 | Compassionate community leader who develops a particularly meaningful friendship with Hannah, whose firefighter son is missing in New York. Also plays Delores and others. Strong character actress and ensemble singer; mezzo with belt. Needs warmth, humor and emotional depth. Newfoundland dialect. Things to Know - Welcome to the Rock; Prayer | Oz & Others | M | 30-50 | Quirky member of Gander's tiny police force who suddenly finds himself helping manage thousands of unexpected visitors. Plays numerous additional characters, including Joey, a customs officer, Rabbi and others. Excellent character actor capable of many rapid transformations. Strong contemporary tenor up to G4. Comedy, physical storytelling and multiple dialects are valuable. Things to Know - Welcome to the Rock; Screech In | Janice & Others | F | 20-30 | Young, enthusiastic local television reporter whose first days on the job suddenly become an international news story. Also plays Britney, a flight attendant and others. Contemporary soprano with strong pop belt/mix to approximately E5. Energetic actor with comedy and vulnerability; quick character changes. Things to Know - Welcome to the Rock; 38 Planes / Janice-led material | Beverley & Others | F | 40-60 | Captain Beverley Bass, pioneering American Airlines pilot. Her lifelong love of flying is profoundly affected by the events of 9/11. Also plays Annette, a reporter and others. One of the show's most demanding vocal tracks. Strong mezzo with an easy mixed/belted C#5; excellent storyteller capable of carrying a major solo. Must contrast Beverley sharply with comic Annette. Things to Know - Me and the Sky — essential material for this track | Diane & Others | F | 50-60 | Traditional Texas divorcee worried about her son during the attacks. Her experience in Gander awakens a freer, more adventurous side, and she develops a romance with Nick. Also plays Crystal, Brenda and others. Strong actress with excellent chemistry and comic timing. Mezzo, approximately A3–C#5. Must handle both comedy and sincere romantic material. Things to Know - Stop the World; 28 Hours / Wherever We Are | Hannah & Others | F | 40-60 | Mother of a New York firefighter who desperately waits for news of her son while stranded in Gander. Her friendship with Beulah becomes one of the emotional centers of the show. Powerful dramatic actress and singer. Contemporary soprano with strong pop belt/mix, approximately to E5. Requires significant emotional range without overplaying the material. Things to Know - I Am Here; Prayer | Kevin T. & Others | M | 30-50 | California passenger traveling with his boyfriend, Kevin J. More optimistic and open to the people of Gander than his anxious partner. Also plays Garth and other characters. Strong actor/singer with excellent comedic instincts and ability to differentiate contrasting characters. Contemporary tenor/baritenor. Things to Know - On the Edge / Kevin material; Screech In | Kevin J. / Ali & Others | M | 30-50 | Kevin J. is Kevin T.'s sarcastic, anxious boyfriend who fears how the couple will be received. The same actor traditionally plays Ali, a Muslim passenger who encounters suspicion and discrimination after the attacks. Particularly demanding character track because the performer must create very distinct characters, dialects and emotional perspectives. Tenor/baritenor. Ali traditionally includes Arabic language/dialect work. Things to Know - Prayer; Kevin/Ali ensemble material | Nick & Others | M | 50-60 | English oil-industry executive who meets Diane after their flight is diverted. Their unexpected relationship provides one of the show's warmest storylines. Also plays Doug and others. Strong actor/singer with understated comedy and romantic chemistry. Baritone; ability to distinguish British Nick from Newfoundland characters. Things to Know - Stop the World; 28 Hours / Wherever We Are | Bob & Others | M | 20-40 | New Yorker initially suspicious and uncomfortable in unfamiliar surroundings. The extraordinary generosity he experiences in Gander gradually changes his outlook. Strong comic actor and storyteller; baritone/tenor.
