| Notes | This production is conceived as an imagined dramatization of an historical event, not an actual reenactment; accordingly, we are NOT recreating the appalling lack of diversity that characterized power and leadership 250 years ago. We are playfully setting the central event with dramatic license to see this story as a human dilemma, unpacked by a broad spectrum of people, reflecting the diversity of our community today. To that end, ALL roles are open to everyone – with playful liberty and casting justice for all — with one exception: the intention to cast a woman as John Adams, leading this brazen story with a passion and determination that lives equally in men and women. |

| Show Info | In 1776, in the sweltering chambers of the Pennsylvania State House, headstrong delegates from the 13 colonies passionately debated the necessities and dangers of declaring independency from British rule. What some championed as unprecedented political bravery, others saw as preposterous political suicide. Dramatizing the contentious weeks that transformed a stubborn stalemate of opposing principles into the most symbolic moment in American history, this prize-winning musical takes us inside the room where it happened. |
